In the recent past, there is hype over the IT industry, or rather we can also say there is an undeniable claim that Cloud Computing is going to be the next big thing. Well, in the current digitalized world, where almost everything is connected digitally from anywhere around the globe with the help of Cloud computing. It seems to be that Cloud Computing has already begun to embark its significance on an unparalleled level. Cloud Computing is no more the next big thing in the IT industry but rather a basic necessity. First, let us have a clear understanding of What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the method of using the network of remote servers that are hosted on the internet for storage, processing, and managing of data instead of using a personal computer or a local server. And there are three important service models that enable the functioning of cloud computing – Saas, Paas, and Iaas. Let’s have a brief look at these three major components of the Cloud to have a better understanding of what cloud computing is all about.

SaaS: Software-as-a-Service is also known as SaaS allows users to use an application through a live internet connection without even installing it in the local system or laptop. All the required computing power, storage, and security are taken care of centrally by the Cloud providers. Users can access their applications from anywhere and from any device. This gives greater accessibility and huge savings in costs as there is no need to set up the infrastructure required to host the application locally or in-premises. One more advantage is, the number of users or user licenses can be increased or decreased easily as per the requirement, and the cost of only the active user licenses has to be paid for the SaaS service. This helps to dynamically manage software assets with huge savings with the possibility of quick scalability. Examples for applications hosted on cloud include email services such as Gmail, video services like YouTube, Netflix, Storage services such as DropBox, Google Photos, etc There are many free applications and paid applications are available as SaaS.

Paas: Platform-as-a-Service is also known as PaaS. A platform is a right combination of the hardware, Operation System, and an environment that is required to run an application or service. For example, if someone wants to set up a backend database like Oracle for an application, then one has to configure a Server, Install and maintain a server OS like Unix or Windows Server, Install the Oracle Database and Administer the same and set up all the required Network and security to access it. This is a typical example of a Platform. Using PaaS, you can select a ready to be used Oracle Database environment with a complete setup of Server, OS, Oracle Database, Network, and Security. All the maintenance is carried out by the cloud Provider and it is a complete plug and play solution. This can also be scaled up or down according to the requirements thereby saving huge costs and maintenance overheads. PaaS is very useful for hosting applications and setting up development environments.

IaaS: Infrastructure-as-a-Service is also known as IaaS is a full-fledged completely controllable IT infrastructure off-premises, that is, on the Cloud. Here, unlike PaaS or SaaS, you can choose your own configuration of Servers, Storage, Networks, Security, OS, Applications, and maintain it yourself according to your requirements. Still, it saves huge costs and provides excellent scalability according to the demands. Businesses that need complete end to end control can use IaaS.

In simple terms, Cloud computing makes applications, platforms, data, and resources available anywhere at any time for the businesses. Having seen about Cloud Computing, let us now see the various Cloud Computing service providers in the market. The popular Cloud Service providers are Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, VMware, IBM Cloud.

Among these various Cloud Service providers, AWS is the global leader in the Cloud-computing industry. It is because AWS significantly provides more services and features when compared to its competitors. The services include storage, computing, and databases to booming technologies such as Data Lakes, Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things. AWS makes it cost-effective, easier, and faster to make your applications scalable and reliable. Further, it is stated that millions of customers right from big enterprises to government organizations, and start-ups use AWS for agile and low cost-services. Since AWS is the global leader in the Cloud-computing platform it has the largest community support and back-up for its users.

The career scope of AWS is wide and enormous. According to the recent reports submitted by Gartner Inc, it is estimated that the global value of the AWS market will reach $236 Billion with a CAGR of 22% by 2020. Further, based on the reports submitted by Forbes it is stated that 83% of the Enterprise workload will be transformed into the cloud where Amazon alone will hold 50% of public cloud share. And Microsoft will hold 21% and Google Cloud Platform will hold a share of 18% in the public cloud platform.

The Reputed companies that hire AWS Certified professionals are Amazon, Netflix, Airbnb, IBM, Chef, British Gas, Capital One, Finra, General Electric, and Adobe. On average, it is stated that an AWS certified professional earns around Rs.4,1,00,000 to Rs. 5,1,00,0000 per annum. Globally, an AWS Certified professional earns $113,932. Also, the salaries and perks may vary according to the organization and the certification level you have completed. AWS Certification Training in Chennai at FITA aids you in learning and clearing the global certification exams with an in-depth understanding of the AWS Cloud platform.

As more and more the companies are steadfastly moving towards the cloud-platform for the storage and databases it is more important for a candidate who is stepping inside the AWS cloud platform to have relevant skill-based certifications. Further, getting AWS certified creates an image that you have the in-demand skills that are required in the entities that use the cloud platform. Generally, an industry-relevant certificate helps your profile to stand out from the rigorous competition that is present in the market. Also, it helps in evaluating your skill sets easily for the interviewer.

How long will it take to complete an AWS Certification?
Career Prospects
